Opposition Avoidance or Mutual Engagement? The Interdependent Dynamics between Opposing Transnational LGBT+ Networks

چکیده
Abstract Embeddedness within transnational networks influences how countries govern LGBT+ communities. Research commonly highlights pro-LGBT+ enable the expansion of rights; however, increased coordination between anti-LGBT+ actors means network embeddedness also leads to policy backlash. Therefore, an important question ask is: why are differentially embedded these opposing begin with? Moreover, does in one influence other over time? To answer questions, I develop original datasets pro- and from 1990 2018. Using cross-lagged dynamic panel models, results reveal that there is indeed interdependent relationship where mutually engage, or “follow,” another; patterns vary across region. These give insights into exist tension can help illuminate backlash may transpire. While focused on networks, findings tensions (il)liberalism gender justice occurring international community.

On the Dynamics of Cascading Failures in Interdependent Networks
Cascading failures in interdependent networks have been investigated using percolation theory in recent years. Here, we study the dynamics of the cascading failures, the average and fluctuations of the number of cascading as a function of system size N near criticality. The system we analyzed is a pair of fully interdependent Erdös-Rényi (ER) networks. We show that when p is close to pc, the wh...

Being creative is a key part of a healthy lifestyle, contributes to our wellbeing, and is an inherently social activity (Csikszentmihalyi, 1991). There are many definitions and understandings of creativity (see Sternerg, 1991, and Boden, 1994 for an overview) ranging from cognitive and computational models (e.g. Boden, 2003; Wiggins, 2006) which help us to understand the mechanics of human crea...

A Computer Science degree is offered by Victoria University both locally in Australia and transnationally in Hong Kong. The degree includes a compulsory final year project subject. The project, a team effort, involves the design and implementation of a reallife computer application for an external client. The project model in Hong Kong was modified to accommodate a variety of time, distance, an...
متن کاملOpinion dynamics under opposition
We study a DeGroot-like opinion dynamics model in which agents may oppose other agents. As an underlying motivation, in our setup, agents want to adjust their opinions to match those of the agents they follow (their ‘ingroup’ or those they trust) and, in addition, they want to adjust their opinions to match the ‘inverse’ of those of the agents they oppose (their ‘outgroup’ or those they distrus...
متن کاملPreferential Attachment in the Interaction between Dynamically Generated Interdependent Networks
We generalize the scale-free network model of Barabàsi and Albert [Science 286, 509 (1999)] by proposing a class of stochastic models for scale-free interdependent networks in which interdependent nodes are not randomly connected but rather are connected via preferential attachment (PA). Each network grows through the continuous addition of new nodes, and new nodes in each network attach prefer...
